Kukishin Ryu after World War II−from Nihon Taiiku Kyoku to Nihon Kobusho

Kiba Koshiro played a main role when Kukishin Ryu teachers tried to get together again after World War II, renaming their organization from Kodo Senyokai Shobukyoku to Nihon Taiiku Kyoku. After the death of Kiba Koshiro, Tatsuta Yasuichiro, his leading student, took over and got through the hardest times after the war.

One of the conspicuous activities that he undertook was Bo technique performance before the US Army in 1946, just one year after the war, which was nothing but an epoch making event at the time when Japan was occupied by the US.
Teacher Tatsuta Yasuichiro started learning martial arts in 1926, and opened a Dojo called "Shudo-kan" near his birth place in the Shikama Ward, Himeji city, Hyogo prefecture in 1930. After the death of Kiba Koshiro, he frequented to Nara to learn from Takamatsu Chosui, a master of Kukishin Ryu. He eventually mastered the secret of martial arts.
The martial arts he mastered vary, ranging from Judo to Karate. Tatsuta parted from the Kuki
Tatsuta parted from the Kuki family for some reason; he put in effort to pass  what he mastered onto his students at his own Dojo.  Tanbo-jutsu, the art he crystallized what he learned in the course of his martila arts life into a system, was his great achievement. His performance of Tanbo-jutsu was made public in 1979 at the fiftieth anniversary of his Dojo Shinbukan.

Bojutsu techniques created by Teacher Tastuta and his Dojo is  passed onto Matsumoto Masao, who is his son in law and the present head of Dojo, and Yanai Akira and Yamaguchi Taizou, who are both vice- head of Dojo. The organization is still called "Shudokai," and the original form of Kukishin Ryu Bojutsu and Jutsu techniques are mainly handed down to Teacher Yanai.

Among teachers under the Soke Kuki, Teacher Fujita Yoshio, who was a younder dicsiple of Tatsutsa under the same teacher Kiba Koshiro, took over the business of preserving Kukishin Ryu after Tastuta parted from the Soke Kuki family and other teachers.
In 1977 "Nihon Kobusho" 1 was established, the Soke Kuki Takaharu being honorary president.  Together with Teacher Tastuta, they tried to promote the preservation of Kukishin Ryu. The undertaking, however, petered out due to Takaharu's illness after a while.
