| Kukishin Ryu is a martial art handed down in the family of Kumano Betto (a descendant of Fujiwara clan that served at the Northern Court). Kukishin Ryu developed into a form with a unique philosophy when the Betto family had an encounter with Tenshinhyoho, a secret martial art created by Kiitsuhougen at Mt. Kurama, at the time of unprecedented disturbances in Japan (called the time of the Northern and Southern Courts).
